Spot Price Charts

by Bradley Voight on 05/30/12

We can thank Scrapmonster.com for our price charts. I have posted some common items and also some items that are not so common, but are also recyclable. Prices are what you would get at a scrap yard.

Let me state again that Smalltime's ultimate goal is a multifaceted scrap yard accepting all of the items listed on my materials page and more. To reach that goal we need your feedback. I've said it once before, but it is worth repeating many times, Indiana is a joke at going green and until the people of Indiana wise up and see the tremendous amount of wasting that they do, then we will continue to to plow thousands of tons of useful material into landfills.

America Slipping into the Third World

by Bradley Voight on 05/26/12

I believe America is gradually sliding into the third world right before our eyes. Right now 50% of Americans have saved NOTHING, 0, NOTTA, ZIP for retirement. That means someone will have to take care of all of those people and it will probably be their "Rich Uncle" if you know what I mean. As we move deeper into debt as a nation, we continue to waste and live as if we will never be like India or China. I am here to tell all of you right now that within three more generations, we are going to experience conditions in this country very similar to what you read about in National Geographic. This is serious stuff. America already looks way different than it did when I was young and I'm only 42!

We have a generation of wanna be ballers and players of EVERY RACE that have NO idea of the value of a dollar bill. If it ain't bling bling then it's no good. It is a frightening future we face and very few people even care.

NO ONE is going to do what needs to be done for you.You have to take a proactive approach unless you love handouts! The problem is that there will be less and less people who actually do anything and more and more dead weight for those few to carry. What does this have to do with waste? Well one man's trash is another mans treasure!

Indiana Needs Bottle Return Law

by Bradley Voight on 05/26/12

You've seen bottles from Maine, Hawaii and other much cleaner states than Indiana. They say return for deposit, usually 5 cents. Those states recover 62% of their bottles (plastic and glass) compared to 12 % in states without such laws according to a WRTV channel 6 story. We need these laws in our state and Smalltime would like to spearhead the effort to get these laws on the books here.

Take it from a guy who loves to look in trash cans, 60% of the contents of an average Speedway gas station trash can is recyclable. So why are we still trashing perfectly reusable materials when we could be reducing landfill space dramatically by reclaiming what we toss.

I laugh when I hear... Go Green! ..... Everyone thinks somebody else is taking care of it and not a lot of folks are really doing much at all. Let's get serious about this issue and make some changes.

You Need Money

by Bradley Voight on 05/24/12

Listen, I know you need the money, but you do not want a part time job. Scrap metal is your key to extra cash. We here at Smalltime also would like to see you get paid for other materials too but until then it's metal you are looking for and let me tell you it is every where you go right before your eyes, you just haven't been looking for it.

So check out our videos (low budget but to the point), find a scrapyard on our map and get busy getting paid for scavenger hunting.

Materials list page

by Bradley Voight on 05/13/12

We are currently building a list of materials that we will buy when we open our yard. The list is not final but it gives you a good idea of what materials are being recycled in the 21st century. There are many items that were once pitched that we can recycle or reuse in some meaningful way.

Disclaimer: This is not investment advice as I am neither licensed nor qualified to advise anyone's financial decisions. It is a site presenting an "out of the box" set of ideas on how to possibly maximize profit from recycling, creating an incentive for people to recycle. Small Time Recycling's Mission Statement

Our primary mission is to reclaim valuable recyclables from the waste stream and bring attention to the wastefulness of America. Currently we are recycling metals and e-waste. The Smalltime Blog is a non political commentary on metal, stock, currency and other markets. The Smalltime Blog is also where the hard lessons of a self taught investor are discussed.
